Enter the forest
Student Theatre society Amsterdam (STA!) performs ‘Enter the forest. Fourteen STA performers are searching for contact in this associative devised play, directed by Diede Daalman.
It is the middle of the night in a rainy and dark forest. We are at a rave. Lost figures dance and flirt between the trees. Little Red Riding Hood is dancing with the wolf. Biting in an apple doesn’t give a high. A hypochondriac concludes she must have heart cancer. Arno loves fitness, reading and cooking and asks: “Do you feel like fucking?” The hunter doesn’t save anyone. The party guest gradually become more outrageous, but lonelier.
Enter the forest is something between a dream, a drug trip and a dystopian fairy-tale. What is real at the drug overloaded dance events? What are we looking for? We whatsapp, use facebook and chat for love. But what is really in online contact? What is real in this world with fake news and polished Instragram accounts? What are we alienated from?
Enter the forest is a performance about all those ‘fairy-tale worlds’ that we enter. With texts by Alex van Warmerdam and Jibbe Willems.
Play dates: 12, 13 and 14 February, 20.00
Location: CREA Theater (Nieuwe Achtergracht 170, 1018WV Amsterdam)
